In Canon land, it is obviously targeting the Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 USM L IS which has been the 1st choice among customers looking for a high quality, full format standard zoom lenses with a slightly longer reach. Interestingly the Sigma lens is just marginally more affordable than its Canon counterpart.
The front element doesn't rotate, of course. The slower max. aperture allows a more compact design - the EF 24-70mm f/4 USM L IS is about 25% smaller and more light-weight than its f/2.8 cousin. However, it's still a fairly big lens when thinking of the old (discontinued), consumer grade Canon EF 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 USM for instance.
I highly recommend the Canon 24-105 F4 IS L to anyone wanting a flexible lens for all round general shooting. The 24-70 2.8 is slightly better in terms of low light ability, but taking into account the longer zoom and the Image Stabilizer that the 24-105 brings to the table I think itβs a better choice, especially if you have a fast 50mm for
